آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ (285) لَا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنَا لَا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا رَبَّنَا وَلَا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لَا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنْتَ مَوْلَانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ (286)
Translation:
The Messenger ˹firmly˺ believes in what has been revealed to him from his Lord, and so do the believers. They ˹all˺ believe in Allah, His angels, His Books, and His messengers. ˹They proclaim,˺ “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and obey. ˹We seek˺ Your forgiveness, our Lord! And to You ˹alone˺ is the final return.”
Allah does not require of any soul more than what it can afford. All good will be for its own benefit, and all evil will be to its own loss. ˹The believers pray,˺ “Our Lord! Do not punish us if we forget or make a mistake. Our Lord! Do not place a burden on us like the one you placed on those before us. Our Lord! Do not burden us with what we cannot bear. Pardon us, forgive us, and have mercy on us. You are our ˹only˺ Guardian. So grant us victory over the disbelieving people.”
Causes of the revelation of Surah Al Baqarah Last 2 ayats:
When the Ayah before them was revealed, the Sehaba (Companions) express their fear and anxiety from this. Since the verse before it—(وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ) – “Whether you show what is within yourselves or conceal it, Allah will bring you to account for it” [Al-Baqarah: 284].
When they said that this was extremely difficult, our prophet taught them to obey and not to negotiate such as Bani Israel. Allah revealed his mercy and relief through the Ayah:(لا يُكلف الله نفسًا إلا وسعها). Prophet Mohamed told us that Allah said that he responded to their supplication. Lessons from Surah al Baqarah Last 2 Ayats:
- The last two Ayats explains that our prophet and the Sehaba embodied faith, so Allah granted their supplication.This shows us the importance of accepting Allah’s commands, even when they seem difficult at first and even if the wisdom behind them is not immediately clear.

Hadith explains the virtue of Surah al Baqarah last 2 Ayats:
The following Hadiths explain that the last two Ayats virtues. The first means that they have great power and protect us from many things. The second shows that these 2 Ayats are a gift from Allah.
1. They are sufficient:
We know from the following hadith that when we recite the last two verse of Surah al Baqarah, this will be sufficient.
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يُونُسَ، حَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرٌ، حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، بْنِ يَزِيدَ قَالَ لَقِيتُ أَبَا مَسْعُودٍ عِنْدَ الْبَيْتِ فَقُلْتُ حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي عَنْكَ فِي الآيَتَيْنِ فِي سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ . فَقَالَ نَعَمْ . قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم “ الآيَتَانِ مِنْ آخِرِ سُورَةِ الْبَقَرَةِ مَنْ قَرَأَهُمَا فِي لَيْلَةٍ كَفَتَاهُ ”
Translations:
‘Abd al-Rahman b. Yazid reported:
I met Abu Mas’ud near the House (Ka’ba) and said to him: A hadith has been conveyed to me on your authority about the two (concluding verses of Surah al-Baqara. He said: Yes. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (in fact) said: Anyone who recites the two verses at the end of Surah al-Baqara at night, they would suffice for him.
Islamic scientists explain that the last two verses suffice him in place of Qiyam al-Layl the night prayer Or from reciting the Quran in general, whether inside or outside prayer.
Some scholars stated that they protect him from all harm of both humans and jinn.. Others explained that they protect him from the evil of Shaytan.
2. They have a unique virtue:
This two verse have a unique advantage. We know this from the following narration from a Companion (Ali)
It was narrated that ʿAlī said, “I did not think that any reasonable person could sleep without reciting the last verses of Sūrat al-Baqarah, and they are indeed treasures from beneath the Throne.
